Marian Frentz (1954-2018) was the beloved sister of Live Catholic co-founder, Michelle Johnson. She was a passionately faithful Catholic and devoted wife and mother of four daughters, who founded a program for women of all ages known as TASTE, (Taste And See, Take and Eat). With her characteristic verve, Marian invited Catholic speakers from all over the country to feed the mothers who flocked to her ministry. One of those speakers was, Susan Brinkmann, the co-founder of Live Catholic who still remembers sitting with Marian in her living room and listening to her explain how easy it was to form a non-profit, and how not to be afraid of taking a few risks for Christ. Live Catholic is the direct result of that conversation! Although Marian was called home at the tender age of 63, her legacy lives on in the hundreds of women that continue to be touched by the TASTE program, and in the many ministries she encouraged, such as this one! Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. Pray for us, Marian!
Janet Reid, OCDS
I am a member of the St. John of the Cross and St. Paul Community in Birmingham, Alabama. I was raised in a large Catholic family who worked, prayed and played hard together on a Kentucky dairy farm. My mother, now 98, faithfully prayed her books of prayers but it was her father who taught her the true presence of God in our hearts and in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Both imprinted upon me a life of faith that deepened over the past 30 years in Carmel. I served my community as a formator of our Carmelite Spirituality with an emphasis on St. John of the Cross . I have a personal devotion to The Holy Face of Jesus and the “Little Way” of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. Although now a widow of 11 years, I was blessed with 37 years of marriage and two sons. I live to praise God through the good and bad, all for His Glory.
